Das Zurich Jazz Orchestra (ZJO)schreibt einen Kompositionswettbewerb im Bereich Big-Band-Jazz aus. Ziel des Wettbewerbs ist die Förderung des Nachwuchses im Bereich der Jazzkomposition. Das ZJO setzt sich dafür ein, dass die Big Band als klassischer Klangkörper des orchestralen Jazz eine lebendige Institution darstellt, deren Klangfarben zeitgenössische Komponisten und Komponistinnen inspirieren.
Composers Competition
The Zurich Jazz Orchestra (ZJO) is organizing a competition for composers of Big Band jazz music. The aim of the competition is to promote young talent in the field of jazz composition. The ZJO champions the Big Band as a living institution producing classic orchestral jazz music which provides inspiration for contemporary composers.
Deadline for submissions: 30 September 2009
The 5 finalists will be announced at the end of October 2009

Concours de composition
Le Zurich Jazz Orchestra (ZJO) lance un concours de composition d’œuvres pour big band, l’objectif étant de soutenir les nouveaux compositeurs de jazz. Le ZJO s’implique pour que la formation classique qu’est le big band demeure une institution bien vivante du jazz orchestral et continue à inspirer les compositrices et compositeurs contemporains.
Date limite de participation: 30 septembre 2009
Les noms des finalistes seront communiqués à la fin du mois d'octobre 2009.
